Congrats Stewart!
Stewart,
I’m an old GT MGT classmate/group project teammate/apartment neighbor
(Palisades???) of yours and of course I have followed your career
closely since you were kicking Tiger’s ass back in college. Seriously,
didn’t you always beat him in college tournaments? I am thrilled that
you got your first major and that you have had such a great pro
career. Congrats on winning the Open and best wishes for continued
success.

Your Open Championship Victory
Way to go Stewart. For once and forever, you can put that U.S. Open
in Tulsa behind you and savor the fact that you went out and won this
one. No one collapsed and gave it to you; two birdies & two pars in
sudden death underscores that you WON The Open Championship.
Congratulations to one of the Tours nice guys.

Well-deserved Major Win
In 2005 at the AMEX Golf Championship at Harding Park in San
Francisco, I remember watching Stewart be the last one practicing on
the driving range after playing the first round. I thought to myself
that guy deserves to win. Well done Stewart you did it!

Dear Mr. Cink,
Congratulations on winning the Open Championship. I have always
enjoyed watching you play golf and consider you to be a gentleman. I
am a believer in fair play and accepting the outcome of a contest of
equals. I am a man of 61 years of age who still feels like a young
stud inside and I got so wrapped up in wanting Tom Watson to make
history today that I am struggling with my feelings about you. You won
the tournament fairly but to me it brought back all the feelings I had
as a youth on the school playground with the big bullys who would push
us smaller guys around. I want to be able to watch you play in the
future without wanting you to lose but I cannot shake this negative
feeling. I know that it is not your fault and that you were only
playing your best. Fair is fair but I feel robbed of something very
special. Maybe there should be some kind of age limit in these
contests so that 60 year old legs are not put to such an impossible
test against someone of your age.
Forgive me for venting but I am at a loss for where to go with my
feelings.
Sincerely,
Billy Hunter |
